ABOUT AYESHA
Hi! My name is Ayesha Shakya and I have over nine years of experience in technology, design and media. I am currently a Product Manager at Malala Fund, where I lead product strategy and development.
I am from Kathmandu, Nepal🇳🇵 but my career has spanned across the globe. Literally. I studied Information Engineering & Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore 🇸🇬. After graduation, I joined Nepali Times as their first Product Manager, where I led digital news storytelling to build multimedia products and employed strategies to increase audience growth.
Ready for change, I made my BIG move to New York City for my Master's degree in Journalism and Digital Innovation from New York University🗽 and had the opportunity to partner with some of the biggest names in technology and media.
I worked in News Partnerships at Meta and partnered with Instagram as a UX researcher to publish a set of best practices for news publishers and creators to produce content for Instagram Stories. I partnered with The Wall Street Journal on UX research for the WSJ app and produced an immersive 360 video for The New York Times. It has truly been a NYC adventure so far!
The Product Manager side of me enjoys conceptualizing and building products, dwelling on the problem and coming up with a solution, but the former-journalist in me thrives in storytelling and empathizing with the audience, whether it's your users or your readers.
I could go on but I'll keep this short. If you are interested in connecting, please feel free to reach out.
