Hi! I'm Ayesha Shakya and I am a New York-based Product Manager with over nine years of experience working in technology, design and media. I currently lead Product at Malala Fund where I oversee product strategy and development in order to optimize the user experience and growth of Malala Fund’s websites, newsletters and digital campaigns.
My career has spanned from media, big tech to international development and has taken me across continents. With a Bachelor's in Information Engineering & Media from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, I began my career at Nepali Times as their first Product Manager. During my time there, I led the digital news storytelling team to build innovative multimedia news products to increase total number of subscriptions and drive audience growth. I was instrumental in leading the evolution and growth of digital journalism in Nepal.
I moved to New York City for my Master's in Digital Communication and Multimedia and joined Meta as a Coordinator in Media Partnerships to measure engagement metrics for news initiatives and programs from 500 news partners and journalists, supporting the growth of the Meta Journalism Project globally. I also partnered with Instagram as a UX researcher to publish a set of best practices for news publishers and creators to produce content for Instagram Stories.
My multidisciplinary background, coupled with my communication and creative skills, have led me to build a very unique career in Product Management.
